Proportion of female founders in the energy sector visibly growing
Even though women remain underrepresented in the startup ecosystem, recent data shows a clear trend in the green economy sector: According to the Green Startup Monitor 2024, the proportion of female founders stands at 24 percent—significantly higher than that of non-green startups (17 percent).
A disproportionately high number of female founders are involved in energy- and climate-related business models in particular. This trend is also reflected in our programmes at AXEL.
